Penn State Beaver drop the victory to Penn State Shenango 3-1
Penn State Shenango hosted Penn State Beaver on Monday evening. Beaver defeated Shenango earlier in the season but couldn't repeat that victory tonight.
Sharon, PA- The Penn State Beaver women's volleyball team fought for 4 sets against Penn State Shenango but Beaver fell short in the final set. All the sets were close in range so this game wasn't an easy win for Shenango. Set 1 was 21-25, set 2 was 23-25, set 3 was 25-17, and set 4 was 21-25.
Player of the game was Heaven Bowman (Houston, TX) with 2 kills, 2 aces, and 23 digs for Beaver. Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) had a solid performance for Beaver with 13 assists and 12 digs. Another good performance came from Breann King (Houston, PA) with 8 kills on 13 attempts. Katarina McCall (North Port, Fl) had 7 kills on 17 attempts and Jessigga Signurdardottir (San Jose, CA) had 5 kills on 8 attempts. Jakelia Baker (Augusta, GA) brought the defense for Beaver at the net with 4 solo blocks and 1 assist.
Head coach Sean Cleary said, "Consistency and unforced errors were our biggest problem in tonight's match." He also added, "Hard fought match and we had a lead in every set but couldn't stay consistent."
The Penn State Beaver's women's volleyball team's next matchup will be on Thursday against Penn State Dubois. This matchup will be home and will take place at 7:00 p.m.
