Monaca, PA - Beaver Softball has had a great start to their season beginning conference play 6-3. Conference play, however, did prove to be tough competition after losing both games against Penn State New Kensington,
The first game started off with New Kensington scoring 2 runs in the first inning. The game went runless until the bottom of the fourth inning where Beaver scored their first, and only run, of the game. New Kensington secure the win in the last two innings of the game scoring a total of 5 runs. The game ended in New Kensingtons favor with the score showing 7-1.
The second game went much worse for Beaver. The game did not start this way, with the game being tied 2-2 by the end of the first inning. Beaver then took the lead in the bottom of the second scoring 1 run, but this would be their last. New Kensington managed to score 5 runs in the third inning, and 7 more runs between the fifth and sixth innings. This would secure them their second win of the day defeating Beaver 14-3.
Freshman Selene Lopez (Simi Valley, CA) would earn player of the game ending the day with 1 RBI and 1 walk off of 3 hits. Senior Chloe Coleman (Moon Twp, PA) finished the day with 2 runs between both games, scoring the only run for Beaver in the first game.
