Beaver wins final PSUAC match-up against Penn State New Kensington

New Kensington, PA - The Lady Lions fought hard this season to finish with a 12-6 record in the PSUAC. After taking 4 forfeit losses they had to work hard to climb their way into playoffs. With their 2 win from Penn State New Kensington today, the have secured a spot in the PSUAC playoff this season. They will travel to Penn State Brandywine to take part in the first round of playoffs this weekend.

Game 1 finished with a final score of 10-0 in 5 innings, as Beavers bats were hot. Junior, Chloe Colemand went 3 for 4, with 1 RBI, 1 Triple, a stolen base and scored 4 runs. Junior, Cassadie Speed was a driving force for Beaver bringing in 5 runs through 5RBI's and went 4 for 4 with a double and triple as well. Senior, Skylar Duffee went 2 for 4 with a double and had 2 RBI's and Freshman, Elena Denezza held right with her driving in 2 runs as well. All three pitchers for Beaver had a hand in the win today as Junior, Desiree Aponte started the game throwing 2 innings with 1 strikeout, Freshman, Gabbey Flynt came in to pitch the next 2 innings and stuck out 2, while Freshman, Kiana Stamper finished the final inning. 

For game 2, Beaver had a little bit of a late start scoring in the 2nd inning for 1 run, and scoring 2 runs in the next 3 innings. The final score of game 2 was 7-4, where Beaver tallied 14 hits and had an impressive 0 errors for the game. Junior, Chloe Coleman, Senior, Skylar Duffee, and Sophomore, Kylie Magnotta all brought in 2 RBI's this game, helping the team Duffee and Magnotta both went 3 for 4 this game, while Magnotta hit a double. Coleman hit a triple in game 2 as well, and scored 1 run. Freshman, Kelsey Stoner went 2 for 4 bringing in another run for Beaver, she also scored a run and had a stolen base. On the mound this game was Freshman, Gabbey Flynt who threw 4 innings giving up 3 hits and striking out 6. In relief this game was Freshman, Kiana Stamper who finished the final 3 innings and holding Penn State New Kensington at bay.

The team is currently 14-10 overall and finished the PSUAC with a record of 12-6. Their next game will be on April 27th at 3pm and 5pm when they take on Potomac State at home.
