DuBois, PA - Today the Lions hit the road to take on two tough USCAA competitors in a Tri-Match held by Penn State DuBois. After two games, one against the host and the second against University of Cincinnati-Clermont, Beaver came home with a split record for the day. Finishing game one against Penn State Dubois 3-0 and immediately going into game two against UC Clermont finishing with a score of 0-3. Beaver now sits with an overall record of 8-9 and a conference record of 5-5 with 3 games left, 2 of which are conference games.
During game one of the Tri-Match, Beaver took early leads and kept their foot on the pedal winning all 3. With final scores of each set finishing as follows, 25-17 Beaver, 31-29 Beaver, and 25-13 Beaver, it was a great start to the day. Beaver had dominating 1st and 3rd sets with a close and very interesting 2nd set that went 6 points over the normal ending score. Leading the team today on the stats line was First-Year, Sofia Perez (Botoga, Columbia) with 10 kills, 7 service aces, 6 digs, and 1 assist. Next was First-Year, Zoie Reid (Salem, OH) who also had 10 kills, 4 service aces, 2 assists, adn 3 solo blocks. Third-Year, Lanie French (Beaver, PA) had the most digs in game one ith 11, had 1 serivce ace, and also 1 solo block. Second-Year, Courtney Simpkins (Palm Bay, FL) had a huge hand in today's win with an impressive 37 assists, 4 serivce aces, and 10 digs. In game one Beaver had 91 total hitting attempts with 41 of them scoring for an impressive .297 K%. Beaver also had a total of 20 serving aces which helped them in scoring there 81 total points.
Game two did not end the same way that game one did though for Beaver. Taking on University of Cincinnat-Clermont was tough and Beaver fought hard but it just was not enough. With final scores finishing as follows, 25-16 Clermont, 25-21 Clermont, and 25-20 Clermont. Leading the way for Beaver in game two was French who had 5 kills, 6 digs, 3 service aces, 2 solo blocks and 2 assists. Simpkins had an impressive 22 assists again in game two along with 1 kill, and 9 digs. Second-Year Makayla Solomon () had 3 kills, 1 assist, 1 dig and 2 solo blocks.Perez like Simpkins had 9 digs this game along with 6 kills, and 1 serivce ace. Beaver had 89 total hit attacks with 25 of those scoring, leaving them with a .135 K%.
Beaver finished with a 1-1 record on the day after their short road trip. The Lions will take the court again on Thursday, October 19th at 7pm during Senior Night!
