Beaver serves up a win against Mont Alto, 3-0

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.— The Penn State Beaver women's volleyball team is now tied for third in the PSUAC ranking thanks to a 3-0 sweep Penn State Mont Alto during Wednesday night's conference road match.
Beaver took an early 14-10 lead in the first set, and sophomore Ramiya White (Westland/Wayne Memorial) scored two kills late to take a 25-16 set-win. In the second, the teams played a tighter contest, but Beaver started to pull ahead at 18-13 and maintained the lead with freshman Mine' Okoloko (Boca Raton/NMH) striking the final blow at 25-18. The Lady Lions kept the momentum going by grabbing the lead early in the third set. While Mont Alto kept it close at the end, Beaver held on a took a 3-0 win for the night.
At the helm of the offense was senior Amanda Mike (Hopewell), who scored nine kills and one ace. Sophomore Kelsie Hallum (Hopewell) led the team in assists with 27 and in service aces with two. Sophomore Heaven Bowman (Houston/Dulles) led in digs with 21, and sophomore Maria Slater (Houston/Elsik) finished with three blocks and one block assist.
After today's win, Beaver improves to (14-6) overall for the regular season and 6-3 in the PSUAC conference standings.
The Lady Lions will at travel to the University of Cincinnati Clermont for their next game on Saturday, Oct. 12. The game is slated for 2 p.m.
