Lady Lions Win to Advance to the PSUAC Championship
Lady Lions Beat Shenango 69-66 to Win the West Division
Sharon, PA-Lady Lions travelled to take on Penn State Shenango in the semi-finals. Starting things off for Beaver was First-year Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA) with a jumper. First year Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) scored the next 2 points of the game. Enderle made 2 of her 4 free throws in only 30 seconds. Second year Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) made the final points of the half with a layup. Going into the locker room, Beaver was down 31-37. A layup by Enderle got things going in the third quarter. Second year Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) got the final points of the third with a three-pointer to give Beaver the lead and a layup by Tesch extended that lead. Siegfried ended the game with a free throw to get Beaver to their final score.
First year Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) had 21 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and the only block for the team. She ended the game with a double-double. First year Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA) had 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Second year Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) had 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Second year Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) had 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist. The team went 26-62 (41.9%) from the field and 16-34 (47.1%) from the free-throw line.
The Lady Lions are now 18-9 overall and 13-4 in conference play. With this win, the Lady Lions advance to the PSUAC Championship where they will take on the winner of the East division. The championship game will take place Sunday March 2 at 3:45pm in the Bryce-Jordan Center in State College, PA. Go out and support or watch it live on the PSU Campus Athletics Network.
