Tough Loss on the Road for Lady Lions as Schuylkill wins 66-64
The Lady Lions loss their first PSUAC game this season to Penn State Schuylkill
Schuylkill Haven, PA - On the road once again to close out their annual PSUAC cross-over weekend, the Lady Lions were unable to secure another win and come home with a split. Losing their first PSUAC game this season to Penn State Schuylkill, the Lady Lions put up a tough fight. With the final score only being a difference of 2 points its clear to see that both teams put forth a lot of effort and drive this game. Though Beaver was unable to claim victory this game the final score of 66-64 shows that they will be tough competition for the rest of the season. Being down 8 points going into the half, Beaver knew they had their work cut out for them. Though the team outscored Penn State Schuylkill in the 4th it was to late to assure the team a victory. Scoring first was Second-year, Claudia Seigfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) who scored off a 3-point shot which she made 5 of tonight after her 7 made yesterday. Seigfried helped the team to their first lead of the game with another 3-pointer at the 5:57 mark of the first quarter First-year, Morghan Prevost (Houston, TX) scored to start the 2nd quarter with a jump shot, while a jump shot made by Firsy-year, Pricilla Long (Brooklyn, NY) closed out the half. Coming out of the locker room, Seigfried got things started with another 3-point shot. With under 2 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter First-year, Bailey Rieg (Pittsburgh, PA) closed out the the 3rd quarter by scoring a jump shot bringing Beaver's score to 44. Second-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) scored off a jump shot to get the teams scoring started in the fourth and helped close out the game with another jump shot and a single free-throw.
Second-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) scored 17 points this game had 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals. Second-year, Claudia Seigfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) also scored 17 points, had 2 rebounds, 1 assists, and 3 steals. First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) scored 13 points, and impressive 7 rebounds like Woodruff, had 2 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block. Also scoring tonight were First-year players, Pricilla Long (Brooklyn, NY), Morghan Prevost (Houston, TX), Bailey Reig (Pittsburgh, PA), and Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA). The team had 30 rebounds, 14 assists, and 18 steals, along with 1 block.
Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball is now 5-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play this season. The Women's Basketball team will now take on another non-conference opponent, USCAA competition, Bryant & Stratton - Cleveland. The game will tip off at 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 10th in the Beaver Fieldhouse.
