Lady Lions Fall to Panthers 85-71
Pitt-Greensburg defeats Penn State Beaver in tough non-conference match-up.
Greensburg, PA - Another roadtrip proves to be tough for the Lady Lions as they hit the road to Greensburg, PA to take on the Panthers of Pitt-Greensburg. The first half of the game was a tough start for the Lady Lions. Scoring only 7 in the first quarter the Women's team needed to claw their way back before the half. Finishing down by 19 at the half and losing by 14 the Women's team had some ups and downs during this game. Scoring first was First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) who scored off a layup but 14 seconds into the game, she scored the first points of the game as well. Second-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) scored the next set of points ofor Beaver off a 3-point shot. Beaver's next 2 points came from 2 free throws made by First-year, Jaden Tesch (Chippewa, PA). Beaver scored 4 points quickly in the beginning of the 2nd quarter with a layup and 2 free throws made by First-year, Morghan Prevost (Houston, TX). With just a few seconds left, Second-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) closed out the scoring by making her final layup this half. Starting the second half, black made a layup 33 seconds after coming out of the locker room. Going into the fourth quarter, Beaver was down 24 and was able to cut it by 10 before the final buzzer. Third-year, Sanii Poindexter-Grant (Lorton, VA) scored off a jumpshot to get the teams scoring started in the fourth. Prevost finished out the the game with a layup brining Beaver to their 71 points for the game. Pitt-Greensburg pushed ahead finalizing the game with a score of 85-71.
First-year, Katie Enderle (Darlington, PA) led the team in points this game having 15 points, and impressive 7 rebounds, 1 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block. Second-year, Taylor Woodruff (Pittsburgh, PA) scored 14 points,had 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Second-year, Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. First-Year player, Morghan Prevost (Houston, TX) had 10 points along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. The team had 34 rebounds, 11 assists, and 16 steals. The team went 16-27 from the free-throw line which was 59.3% and shot 27-75 from the field for a 36.0% success rate.
Penn State Beaver Women's Basketball is now 4-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play this season. The Women's Basketball team will now be on a break due to the holiday and will return to action on December 6th. The Women's Basketball team will travel to take on PSUAC competitor, Penn Satte Lehigh Valley in their yearly cross-over games.
