Lady Lions claim first victory of the season

Coming off a loss to Southern Maine CC, Beaver picked up their first win against Penn State Du Bois winning 84-61.
Beaver started the first quarter with Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA/ Lincoln) jump shot to take a 2-0 lead. Beaver continued having control of the game in the first quarter gaining a 13 point lead (15-2). Over the next 6 minutes of play, the Lady Lions would continue extending their lead scoring 9 points. Meaning that after the first quarter Beaver were leading by 11 points (24-11).The second period started off slow for Beaver allowing Du Bois to score 7 points in the first 5 minutes. Beaver got back into the swing of things in the last 4 minutes scoring 10 points including a 3 pointer from Mia Mattes (Bethel Park, PA/ Bethel Park). This allowed Beaver to end the second quarter leading 35-29.
The third quarter was where Beaver really showed there dominance scoring 14 points in the first 5 minutes taking the score to 49-36. The next 5 minutes was all about Beaver again scoring 15 including another 3 pointer from Mattes. The Lady Lions ended the third quarter leading 64-47.In the fourth quarter beaver continued to control the game by scoring after 1 minute. Du Bois came back at Beaver a little bit scoring 7 before Beaver came back and saw out the game scoring 16 and ending the game 84-61 winners.
Leading offensively for the Lady Lions points was Borders scoring 27points with 13 rebounds, giving her, her first double-double of the season. Along with Mattes close behind with 23 points on the board. With Miranda Davis (Port Saint Lucie, FL / Saint Lucie West Centennial) with 11 rebounds.
Beaver's next game is Wednesday December 2nd at Davis & Elkins, tip off at 6pm.
