Beaver kicks off season in North Carolina
Lady Lions fall to Montreat College in first game of season
Asheville, NC--- The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver kicked off their 2012-2013 season with a trip to North Carolina when they traveled to Montreat College to play against the Cavaliers. The contest opened up competitvely as both teams traded some early buckets and the game was within 5 points as the game got to the halfway part of the first half but Montreat opened things up to take a 24 point lead at halftime. That deficit proved to be too much for Beaver to overcome as they continued to pull away from the Lions and were able to win the contest. Beaver was led offensively by Amanda Temple (Avella, Avella) who finished with 15 points and Morgan Kurtz (Washington, Trinity) who added 9 points. Brooke Mulneix (Beaver Falls, Riverside) had 9 rebounds and Katie Dennis (Hookstown, South Side) dished out 3 assists. It was the sharp shooting for Montreat that was the overall difference as they shot 53% from the field and 56% from three.
Beaver is scheduled to play one more game on this trip to the Tar Heel State as they play tomorrow afternoon at 3pm. Continue to check out the Penn State Beaver Athletic Website for updates all season long.
