Lady Lions Dominate in Doubles Game
Penn State Lady Lions win 10-1 and 9-1 in game against Penn Highlands Blackbears
Monaca, PA – Penn State lady Lions competed in a doubles match against Penn Highlands Black Bears this Sunday, March 23rd. Both games would see the Lady Lions defeat the Bears in an epic showdown. Game 1 would start with Third-year Selene Arteaga (Simi valley. CA) making the first score at the end of the 1st inning, followed by Fourth-year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) and First-year Emilee Waggoner (Conway, PA). Fourth-year Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA) would also score, giving Beaver a 5-0 lead on Penn Highland all within the 1st inning. Highlands Blackbears would attempt to respond to Beaver at the top of the 3rd inning. The game ended at the bottom inning 5 with Third-year Selene Arteaga (Simi valley. CA) making a home run with Second-year Cassidy Crean (Wrightsville, PA) and Allison Delong () bring the final to 10-1. Game 2 would see Beaver pull all the stops once again with Third-year Selene Arteaga (Simi valley. CA) and Fourth-year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) scoring during the 1st inning. Third inning would see Second-year Kiersten Mays (Sterling, IL) make an impressive homerun and score giving Beaver a 3-0 lead. Penn Highlands would once again attempt to return fire at the top of the 4th inning. Beaver would continue to rack points on top of Penn Highlands until the bottom of the 5th inning when Third-year Selene Arteaga (Simi valley. CA) and Second-year Cassidy Crean (Wrightsville, PA) would score giving Beaver a final of 9-1.
Game 1: Fourth-year Mackenzie Boyd (Beaver, PA) would lead Beaver in this first game. At base 2 times and hitting those 2. Mackenzie would make 2 runs and 1 walk on the field. First-year Emilee Waggoner (Conway, PA) would follow, being at base 2 times and hitting on 1. Emilee would make 1 run. Second-year Cassidy Crean (Wrightsville, PA) would also be at base twice, hitting once. Cassidy would make 1 run and 1 walk.
