Penn State Du Bois
Penn State Du Bois
Monaca, PA - It was a rough day for Beaver as they lost both games against Penn State Du Bois, resulting in them dropping in the standings. It was however a celebratory affair as Beaver sends off four seniors in their final home games. The four seniors are Kaitlyn Dunlavey, (Salem, NY), Taylor Harper, (Elk Grove, CA), Chloe Coleman, (Moon, PA), and Cassadie Speed, (Cranbury, NJ). It is also worth noting that Junior, Kylie Magnotta, (Monaca, PA) had 6 plate appearances, 5 hits, 1 walk, and 1 steal between both contests. Although both games resulted in losses, Beaver is still making the postseason and will need to bounce back quickly and have a short term memory.
Game one was a tight pitching matchup for the first half of the game until the Du Bois began to score runs fast and often and became too much for Beaver to overcome. Freshman pitcher, Leeanna West, (Milford, NY) pitched all 7 innings for Beaver and added 2 RBI's off of 1 hit and scoring a run later in the same inning. Taylor Harper also added another 2 RBI's but it wasn't enough as Beaver dropped game one by a score of 9-5.
Game two was a very neck and neck contest through the first 4 innings of the contest. It seemed as if Beaver was starting to settle into the speed of the game and were looking to break even on the day. It was a 4-1 game after the 4th inning and Beaver was looking to battle back. However, things got out of hand in the top of 5th, resulting in Du Bois taking a 9-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th. Beaver failed to score a run and the game ended early as Beaver fell to Du Bois by a score of 9-1.
Beaver finished the regular season with an overall record of 20-15 and a PSUAC record of 9-9. Stay tuned for their next appearance as they begin their postseason journey!
