Mont Alto, PA - The Beaver Softball team took a road trip to Mont Alto for a massive PSUAC matchup with huge playoff seeding implications on the line. Game one was a fantastic defensive performance that resulted in a heartbraking finish for Beaver. Game two was more offensive, however Beaver was forced to play catch-up and was not able to overcome the deficit.
Game one featured two stellar pitching performances which resulted in a 1-0 game. Freshman pitcher, Leeanna West, (Milford, NY), went 6 strong innings giving up 6 hits and only 1 run in the contest. As good as perofmance she had the mound, Beaver's bats did not back it up. Beaver was only able to muster 1 hit from Sophomore second basemen Elana DeNezza, (New Brighton, PA) and were called out on strikes 10 times compared to Mont Alto's 1. It was a frustrating game for Beaver as they looked to break even in game two.
Game two had more offense involvement, as both teams bats' came alive after being dormant in game one. However, it is worth noting that Mont Alto committed 5 errors that resulted in Beaver getting 3 unearned runs as well as another 3 eanred runs. Sophomore, Kelsey Stoner, (Beaver Falls, PA), had 2 RBI's while Senior, Cassadie Speed, (Cranbury, NJ), had the other in the 10-6 loss. Mont Alto was trialing 5-2 at the start of the botttom of the third and proceeded to explode with an 8 run inning that Beaver was not able to overcome. It was overall tough day for Beaver but they have to have a short term memory and get ready for their next opportunity.
Beaver now has an overall record of 20-13 and a PSUAC record of 9-7. Their next appearance is April 25 at home for Senior Day against Penn State Du Bois. Come out and support to send the Seniors off or catch the livestream on the Rise and Roar Network!
