Team Stats
Monaca, PA - Following a dramatic set of wins over Penn State Fayette on April 11 Beaver continued their winning streak by notching two victories over Franciscan on April 12. Both games featured stellar pitching performances from Beaver and lackluster errors from a young Franciscan team. Both games finished in the bottom of the 5th inning when Beaver increased their lead to 8 inacting the mercy rule.
Game one featured a gem of a pitching performance from Sophomore, Bre Thomas, (Ambridge, PA), who went 5 innings, gave up 1 hit and had 9 strikeouts in Beaver's 8-0 win. Franciscan had a jaw-dropping 13 errors which contributed to the ealry finish of game one. Senior, Valentina Sandoval, (Miami, FL), went 2/3 at the plate and driving in 3 runs followed by 1 RBI from Junior, Kylie Magnotta, (Central Valley), who also scored 2 runs. Bre Thomas also added another RBI from who scored twice as well, and Senior, Chole Coleman, (Moon, PA), added 4 stolen bases in Beaver's win.
Game two started off simialr with Beaver jumping out to a 4-0 lead before added another 4 in the 4th inning increasing the lead to 8-0. Franciscan responded by scoring 3 in the top of the 5th to extend the game into the bottom of the 5th. Beaver tacked on 3 runs to end the game in the bottom of the 5th with a final score of 11-3. Freshmen pitcher, Leeanna West, (Milford, NY), pitched 4.1 innings, giving up only 3 runs on 3 hits and 3 strikeouts. She also went 2/3 at the plate and adding 3 RBI's in Beaver's win. Chloe Coleman had another big game by going 3/4 at the plate, 3 runs, and adding 3 stolen bases. Bre Thomas and Kylie Magnotta also addrd two RBI's a piece in the win.
Beaver now has an overall record of 17-10 and a PSUAC record of 9-5. Their next appearance is Saturday, April 15 at home for another double-header matchup against Franciscan at 1pm and 3pm. Come out and support or catch the livestream on the Rise and Roar Network!
