Scranton, PA - Today was a good day for the Beaver Softball team as they defeated Scranton commadingly in in both games. Finishing the roadtrip with 3 out of 4 wins and a 3 game win streak is a much needed jolt for Beaver, who has struggled to get on track since retunring from Myrtle Beach. Beaver exploded on offense, scoring 32 runs in just 10 innings of play and did not give up a run in either game as well.
In game one Sophomore, Bre Thomas, (Ambridge, PA) went 3/3 at the plate and drove in 6 runs, followed by 4 RBI's a piece from Junior, Kylie Magnotta, (Monaca, PA), and Senior, Chloe Coleman, (Moon, PA). On the mound for Beaver, Freshmen, Leeanna West, (Milford, NY), pitched a gem by only allowing 1 hit through 4 innings before being relieved by Freshmen, Hayley Reed, (Tampa, FL), who finished the game off by striking out the side and securing the 20-0 win for Beaver.
Game two featured Sophomore, Bre Thomas, (Ambridge, PA), pitch a complete game, facing 24 batters and recording 7 strikeouts. The offensive explosion continued into the seconf game as well for Beaver where Senior, Cassadie Speed, (Cranbury, NJ), went 3/3 in plate appearances and tallying 3 RBI's. Senior, Taylor Harper, (Elk Grove, CA), tacked on another 3 RBI's which led to a 12-0 win for Beaver as they look to build on these wins.
Beaver is now 9-8 overall with a 3-3 PSUAC record. They will play again on Friday, April 8th at 2pm and 4pm against Penn State Schuylkill in two 7 inning contests. Make sure to tune into the Rise and Roar Network to watch the livestream of both games!
