Myrtle Beach, SC - Day 3 of spring training was a double header for Penn State Beaver's Softball team today. Beaver began their double header at 1pm taking on Bay Path University.
Beaver played another great game starting out with 2 runs in the first inning. Bay Path was able to score 1 run on Beaver this inning. The second inning Bay Path went runless and Beaver scored 2 more runs. Beaver did not score again until the fifth inning where they had another 2 runs and kept Bay Path from scroing at all. The sixth inning Beaver couldn't get any runs, and Bay Path managed to score 2 runs. Beaver closed out the game scoring 1 run in the seventh and giving up 1 run to Bay Path. Beaver closed out their first game of the day with a 8-5 win over Bay Path University.
Senior Kaitlyn Dunlavey (Salem, NY) came out on top getting 2 runs and 1 RBI. Sophomore Bre Thomas (Ambridge, PA) also had 2 runs and 1 RBI. Senior Chloe Coleman (Moon Twp, PA), sophomore Elena Denezza (New Brighton, PA), freshman Selen Lopez (Simi Valley, CA), and junior Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA) all scored 1 run for Beaver. Senior Valentina Sandoval (Miami, FL) had 3 RBIs this game.
Beaver played their second game of the day at 3pm taking on St. Clair Community College. Beaver started off by getting a run in the first inning and keeping St. Clair from scoring until the second inning. St. Clair got their first run in the second inning and Beaver did not get a single run. Neither team scored again until the fourth inning. In this inning, Beaver scored 3 runs and St. Clair scored 2. St. Clair had their best inning in the fifth scoring 2 runs and keeping Beaver from scoring at all. Beaver closed out the sixth and seventh innings getting 3 runs total and keeping St. Clair from scoring at all. Beaver ended their day with a 7-5 win over St. Clair Community College.
Junior Kylie Magnotta (Monaca, PA) came out on top for Beaver getting 3 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI. Sophomore Kelsey Stoner (Beaver Falls, PA) also scored 2 runs today for Beaver as well as having 1 RBI. Sophomore Maria Matts (Pittsburgh, PA), sophomore Allison Vankirk (Pittsburgh, PA), and sophomore Bre Thomas (Ambridge, PA) each had 1 run for Beaver today.
