Ashton, PA - The Lady Lions had a hard fought season this year. Beginning with weather issues on their Spring Break Trip to Myrtle Beach, to the weather issues they faced in Pennsylvania, they played hard when they could and try to make the most out of the season. This season ended earlier than most would want it to, making it to the first round of the PSUAC Playoff Tournament and ending it there.
For game 1, it was set that Beaver would face off agaisnt Penn State DuBois who they had battled hard earlier this season. Game 1 ended with a score of 7-5 after 1 tough inning left Beaver behind. Junior, Chloe Coleman and Freshman, Elena Denezza both scored 2 runs this game, helping the team stay in the game. Senior, Skylar Duffee went 1 for 4 this game driving in 3 runs, which scored Coleman, Denezza, and Sophomore, Kylie Magnotta. The team had 2 extra base hits this game coming from Coleman who hit a triple and Junior, Cassadie Speed who hit a double. Junior, Desiree Aponte was the starting pitcher this game throwing 3.1 innings having 6 strikeouts and Freshman, Kiana Stamper came in to finish the game throwing the last 2.2 innings.
In game 2, Beaver scored early but were unable to keep that up through 7 innings of play. Senior Skylar Duffee brought in the only run of the day off a sac fly, having 1 final RBI for the Lady Lions this season. Junior, Chloe Coleman went 2 for 4 this game and scored off of Duffees sac fly. Freshman, Kelsey Stoner went 2 for 3 this game and Freshman, Maria Matts had the teams only extra base hit going 1 for 2 with a double. In the circle for Beaver was Freshman, Gabbey Flynt who threw 3 innings and struck out 2 batters. Junior, Desiree Aponte came into the game in relief throwing the remaining 3 innings, and struck out 1 batter.
The Lady Lions played well but it was not enough to keep their run alive through the rest of post season. Though the season is over now, the Lady Lions will continue to work in the off season and come back to fight hard next year!
