Beaver Softball Splits Another Doubleheader With Mont Alto
The Penn State Beaver softball team hosted the women of Penn State Mont Alto on Friday afternoon, splitting their second doubleheader with Mont Alto this season.

Evan Pinchot - The Penn State Beaver softball team hosted the women of Penn State Mont Alto on Friday afternoon, splitting their second doubleheader with Mont Alto this season.
In game one, Beaver and Mont Alto were locked in a back and forth battle from the very first inning. In the bottom of the first, it would once again be Sophomore Cassadie Speed (Cranbury, Nj / North Brunswick Township) who would open up the scoring for Beaver with a 2 run home run. Going back and forth for most of this game, it would be Beaver that would have the lead from the first inning of this game until the 5th inning, when the steady attack of Mont Alto's offense finally started to wear Beaver down. It would be the late innings of this one that would decide the fate of this game, as Mont Alto's new lead would end up standing as Beaver would fail to push any runs across in the final inning of this one, losing by a final score of 11-7.
Game two was once again a great battle between Beaver and Mont Alto. This game was the true definition of a back and forth fight, as Beaver and Mont Alto would trade leads in this game 3 times before it was all said and done. From the start it looked like Beaver would be able to grab an early lead on Mont Alto, but a boom of hits from Mont Alto ended up catapaulting them in to a 9-3 lead going into the fourth inning. As the fifth and sixth innings went on, it seemed as if the momentum was swinging in Beaver's favor, and in the seventh inning it would be a 6 run inning for Beaver that would end up sending this game into extra innings with the two teams tied up at 10. After holding Mont Alto scoreless in the top of the 8th inning, a clutch RBI single by Sophomore Morgan Lee (Beargrass, NC / Bear Grass Charter School) would it end all for these two team, as Beaver would come out on top in this crazy game by a final score of 11-10.
After splitting their tough doubleheader with Mont Alto, Beaver now sits at 6-6 on the year in both conference play and overall play. The women of Beaver will look to keep their bats as hot as they were against Mont Alto today when they travel to Mont Alto tomorrow, playing another doubleheader to see who will come out on top in this season series. Game one is set to start at 1 pm, with game two to follow at 3 pm.
