MONT ALTO, Pa. – Prior to the start of Saturday's doubleheader with PSU Beaver, the Penn State Mont Alto softball program honored its two seniors Michia Herman (Orbisonia, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon) and Brooklyn Wagner (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) in a pregame ceremony. The Nittany Lions capped off Senior Day winning the second game of the doubleheader by a 5-2 score to split the season series with PSU Beaver.
Penn State Beaver 6, Penn State Mont Alto 1 (F)
- PSU Beaver scored three runs in the top of the first inning to set the tone as they only added to their lead throughout the game.
- Kirsten Dell (Hanover, Pa. / New Oxford) was hit hard as she earned just her second loss of the season in the pitching circle giving up five earned runs across 4.1 innings.
- McKenna Sas (Canyon County, Calif. / Canyon County) hit a no doubt homer over the centerfield fence to claw PSUMA's only run across the board.
Penn State Mont Alto 5, Penn State Beaver 2 (F)
- In a closer contested battle, each team mustered eight hits apiece with Mont Alto prevailing as they scored two runs apiece in both the first and second innings.
- Skye Herring (Pine Grove, Pa. / Pine Grove Area) propelled the PSUMA lineup with a 1-for-2 performance and two RBIs.
- Kirsten Dell (Hanover, Pa. / New Oxford) finished with three RBIs as she was clutch for the Nittany Lions.
- Haley Dawson ( Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle-Antrim) tossed a gem for PSUMA earning the win to improve to 3-0 in the pitching circle as she scattered eight hits along the way.
Penn State Mont Alto is slated to return to action on Friday, April 23 hosting PSU Greater Allegheny for a doubleheader.
