DuBois, Pa -- In their second game of the USCAA National Torunament, Beaver squared off against Penn State Brandywine as they try to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Mississippi University for Women the day before.
This game started off badly for Beaver, as they lost the lead early in the first inning as Brandywine rallied for 3 runs. The second and third innings didn't go much better for Beaver either, as they let up 6 runs in the second inning and 4 runs in the third. However, in the top of the third inning, Beaver rallied for 5 runs of their own to cut Brandywine's lead to 13-5. Beaver would end up tacking on 2 more runs throughout the fifth and sixth innings thanks to clutch hitting by Sophomore Jessica Hughes (Hopewell, Pa Hopewell) and Junior Vanessa Jackson (Snohomish, Wa / Snohomish). However, their efforts wouldn't be enough as Beaver would end up falling in the end by a final score of 15-7.
After their loss today, Beaver's run in the USCAA National Tournament, and their season, come to an end. The team finishes the year with a 24-17 overall record, while going 15-5 in conference play.
