Monaca, PA -- Lady Lions Win First Playoff Game at Home

The Lady Lions played their first postseason game at home Friday evening, taking on Penn State Greater Allegheny. The division conference game resulted in a 6-1 win for Beaver.
The game started with a scoreless first, but Greater Allegheny was first to go on the board, making a run in the second. Beaver also made a run in the second, with Brenna Cepull making the run.
The third went scoreless, but in the fourth, Beaver made 5 runs in an exciting bottom half. Katie Valiga made the first run with Brittany Garza at bat. Tara McFadden then singled, advancing to second with an RBI, while Brittany Zahn ran home. Garza then made it home as Dina Cable hit out to center field with a SAC fly and an RBI. McFadden also ran home as Vanessa Jackson singled to right field. Those runs would be the final ones of the game, giving Beaver a 6-1 victory.
The team is currently 23-13 overall. They now move on to the PSUAC championships, taking on Penn State Schuylkill in State College on Sunday, May 6th.
