Beaver Gets Redemption on Hagerstown, Winning 4-2.
Myrtle Beach, SC -- Lady Lions get redemption against Hagerstown, winning 4-2 after falling earlier in the week.
Beaver started the game hot, opening with a lead off single from Carley Schroeder who then stole second. Vanessa Jackson singled to put runners on the corners for Kayla Campbell who singled to score Schrorder. The next two batters resulting in outs, Dina Cable stepped to the plate and kept the scoring alive with an RBI single, scoring Jackson.
Beaver scored a lucky run in the third as Natalie Larkin was walked in her at bat to score Jessica Hughes, who singled in her at bat.
With a 3-0 lead, Beaver continued to play solid defense to hold the Lady Hawks scoreless. Then in the fifth inning, Katie Valiga was called in to pinch hit for Larkin with two runners on. She came through big, singling on a ball hit into left center allowing Cable to score and extend the Beaver lead to 4-0.
In the bottom of the sixth Hagerstown put up two runs to prevent the shutout, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lady Lions who held on to win, 4-2. The win puts the ladies at .500 on the week as they head into their final pair of games tomorrow.
The Beaver bats were hot as 9 of the 11 batters in the game had at least one hit, led by Campbell and Cable who went 2 for 4 today.
