Beaver Rebounds in Second Game of the Day
Myrtle Beach, SC -- Beaver trounces the Lancers of the College of Lake County, 9-0.
The game got off to a quiet start, neither team able to score until Beaver put a lone run on the board off the bat of Vanessa Jackson who doubled to score Carley Schroeder.
The Lady Lions added to their lead in the fifth, when their bats got hot on a two out rally. Carley Schroeder got things going with a triple and she was brought home by Jackson with another double. Kayla Campbell singled and stole second to put both her and Jackson into scoring position for Jessica Hughes who doubled to score both. Brenna Cepull rounded out the RBI category in the inning, scoring Hughes to extend Beaver's lead to 5-0.
Beaver kept their momentum going in the sixth scoring three more to end the game early, 9-0, due to the mercy rule.
The win puts Beaver at 2-3 this week as they head into their final game of the day at 4:30 p.m. when they face Hagerstown, who they lost to earlier in the week.
Leading the team in hits in the game was Vanessa Jackson who went 4 for 4 and leading in RBI's was Cepull with three, including the game ending runs scored.
The Lady Lions return to action for their final games of the week tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. when they face Fredrick Community College and Daneville Area Community College.
