Two Lady Lions Earn All-American Honors
Akron, OH -- Two Lady Lions earn USCAA All-American honors for their efforts on the field this season.
Earning 1st Team All-American was senior, Rachael Charlier who finished second on the team in batting with an average of .362 while batting in 27 RBI's. She was the vocal and emotional leader on the team as well as the team's starting catcher who was nearly flawless this season, comitting only three errors on the year.
Freshman, Vanessa Jackson, earned 2nd Team All-American for her talents on both sides of the ball. From the plate she boasted a batting average of .385 and had 38 RBI's, leading the team in both statistical categories. Her 38 RBI's this season was good enough to land her in the top 10 in the nation. From the circle, Jackson was the team leader with an ERA of 2.45, throwing 160 innings this season and finishing with a record of 13-13. She also had 102 strikeouts. She was along among the top 10 in the nation in both ERA and strikeouts on the season.
The Lady Lions will only lose their lone senior moving into next season as Jackson plans to return and lead the team back into the USCAA Softball Championship Tournament in 2017.
