Softball started the first game out quick scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Senior Rachel Charlier (Burgettstown, PA/Burgettstown) singled in Freshman Brenna Cepull (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) to give Beaver the lead 1-0. Freshman Sarah Foose (New Bloomfield, PA/West Perry) singled in both Charlier and Cepull increasing the lead to 3-0.Beaver scored a run in the top of the sixth off an error making the score 4-0. Freshman Vanessa Jackson (Snohomish,WA Snohomish) had a shutout going until the bottom of the sixth when she gave up a home run. The seventh inning would prove to be the difference maker as Hazleton would score four runs on three hits and three errors winning the game 4-5.
Beaver recorded four hits in the first game all of them by different players. Foose led the team with two rbis.
Jackson struck out six with only three of the five runs being earned.
Hazleton started the second game hot as they scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Beaver would come back and score two in the top of the second inning off a Freshman Brittany Zahn (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) double scoring Junior Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA/Ellwood). Sophomore Sunnie Liggett (Avella, PA/Avella) singled to right field bringing in Zahn making the score 4-2. Hazleton added a run in the bottom of the third now leading 5-2. The Beaver offense would explode in the top of the fourth inning. Liggett, Jackson, and Charlier all had rbi singles and Freshman Brittany Garza (La Feria, TX/La Feria) scored on a wild pitch tieing the game. Beaver added a run in the top of the fifth taking the lead. Borders singled in Charlier making the lead 8-6. Beaver would tack on another run making the final score 9-7 in favor of Beaver.
Liggett and Borders led the offensive charge with three hits. Cepull and Charlier followed with two. Liggett also added two rbis.
Foose picked up the win for Beaver with Jackson coming in to get the save.
Beaver now moves to 23-19 on the year and 10-4 in the conference.
