Beaver Falls, PA- The Penn State Beaver men's soccer team opened the 2021 season hosting Berkley College (NJ) in an exhibition. Berkley defeated PSUAC conference rival Penn State New Kensington 3-1 the day before.
It took no time for Berkley College to get on the board. At the 3:33 mark, Berkley's Michael Mogollon scored unassistant to take a 1-0 lead. At the 15:41 mark, Mongollon struck again, taking a pass from Jahey Nyass and finding the back of the net, giving Berkley the 2-0 lead. Berkley took the 2-0 lead into the half.
In the second half, Berkley struck twice early. This time, Nyass scored off a pass from Eliseo Arevalo. Minutes later, Arevalo scored an unassisted goal of his own to give Berkley the 4-0 lead. At the 74 minute mark, Beaver would get on the board as Junior Misa Garcia scored an unassisted goal to pull Beaver with-in three, 4-1. In the final minutes, Berkley would strike one final time when Arevalo would score his second goal of the game, giving Berkley the 5-1 win.
In the loss, Freshman Alex Hart recorded 6 saves.
Beaver currently sits at 0-1. They will return to action on Tuesday, September 7th, when they travel to Westmoreland County Community College for a 3 p.m. friendly.
