Virginia Beach, VA- Heading into day 2 of the USCAA National Tournament, Beaver knew they needed to defeat Berkley College New Jersey by a total of 3 goals to advance to the 2019 USCAA Division 2 National Title game. Even though Beaver controlled the action early, they still fell themselves trailing going into halftime 2-0. Berkley netted goals at the 25 and 28 minute mark to build the 2 goal lead.
In the second half, Beaver rallied the troops, and mounted a come back. At the 62 minute mark, Sophomore Danylo Yakymov netted a pentalty kick to put the Lions on the board. At the 73 minute mark, it was Yakymov again, hitting the back of the net and tieing the game 2-2. At the 86 minute mark, Senior Romaine Thomas put Beaver up for good, taking a pass from Yakymov and beating the goalie to give Beaver the 3-2 lead. For the final four minutes, Beaver's defense was tested, but never broke, as the Lions held on for the 3-2 victory. The win tied Beaver with Johnson and Whales and Berkely at 1-1 in pool play, but did not qualify for the Championship match based on goal diferential.
In the win, Yakymov led the offense with 2 goals, 1 assist, for a total of 5 points in the game. Sophomore goal keeper Jullian Hauff stopped 6 of 8 shots to earn the win in goal.
Overall it was a successful campaign for the Lions. They finished 14-6, 8-1 in the PSUAC, PSUAC runner's up, USCAA National tournament qualifiers, and earned numerous individual awards.
