Hazleton, PA -- With several key players hurt, including their first two goalies, Beaver headed to Hazleton for the first round of the PSUAC playoffs.
In the first half, both teams played solid defense, limiting shots and holding each other scoreless until the 39th minute when Hazleton finally got on the board. Just one minute later, Hazleton would take a 2-0 lead on a penalty kick, but Beaver was quick to answer at 42:02 on a goal from John Valiga to bring the game within one, 2-1.
In the second half, Hazleton added two goals in the first fifteen minutes to take a 4-1 lead. With those two goals coming within minutes of each other, Beaver made a goalie change, but then gave up another pair of back to back unanswered goals to fall behind 6-1. But Beaver kept shooting and eventually found the net for a second time just before the 70th minute on a goal by Shelton Hilliard.
Unfortunately, Beaver was held scoreless for the remainder of the game and fell by a final score of 6-2. This marks the end of their 2017 campaign, finishing with a record of 7-9-1 overall and 5-5 in the PSUAC.
