Mont Alto, PA -- The Penn State Beaver men's soccer team traveled to Penn State Mont Alto for another conference matchup early in the season. They come into this one just a day after winning their first conference game against Penn State Schuylkill in what was also a great showing for the team. The team looks to keep up their winning ways and establish themselves in conference play early on in this young season.
This game was a rather one sided affair, as Beaver ran away with this game early on. Just 30 minutes into the game Beaver scored their first goal off the foot of John Valiga. They were quick to follow up on that goal and just seven minutes later Shelton Hilliard sank another shot for Beaver, as Julius Illiano tallied an assist on both early goals. From here Baever never looked back as they scored three more goals by the end of this game, eventually coming away with a 5-1 win that improved their conference record to 2-0.
With two conference games in the books, Beaver has come out strong showing that they are still a force in the PSUAC even after losing a good chunk of their starting lineup from the last season in which they won the PSUAC championship. The team was helped lead in this game by Julius Illiano, who assisted on three of the five Beaver goals that were all scored by different players. Beaver now stands at a 2-2 overall record with a 2-0 conference record. The team will play next on Saturday, September 18 against Penn State Hazelton at home. Game time is set for 4 pm.
