Youngwood, PA -- The Men's Soccer team earned a big non-conference win today over Westmoreland County Community College.
The men started quickly netting their first goal less than five minutes into the game off of the foot of Zachary Petey, assisted by Anthony Voss. A little more than two minutes later, Dom DeMino scored back to back goals to give Beaver a 3-0 lead after ten minutes of play.
DeMino then offered an assist to Julius Illiano on his first of three goals on the afternoon, giving Beaver the 4-0 lead. Freshman, Shelton Hilliard, was the next Lion to score back to back goals at the 19:50 and 26:20 marks, both unassisted. Four more goals would be tallied for Beaver before the end of the half, giving them a ten goal lead at the half.
The second half of play continued to be tough for the Wolfpack as the Lions, Illiano, scored back to back goals in the 57th and 59th minutes, assisted by Logan Ridgley and Zachary Petey, to give Beaver a 12-0 advantage. Beaver would score their 13th and final goal in the 65th minute off of the toe of Alex Rectenwald.
Leading the Lions was Illiano with a hat trick, followed by Hilliard, Romaine Thompson and DeMino who all scored two goals a piece, all three scoring their goals back to back.
This win puts the Lions at 4-2 overall as they prepare to host rival Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, September 24th at 2:00 p.m.
