Rochester, PA--- Penn State Beaver keeps their season alive, beating #5 seed Penn State Greater Allegheny.
From the opening minutes of the game, you would have never known that Beaver was coming off of a four game losing streak. The Lions came out on fire, keeping the possesion and creating many opportunities early in the match. In the 16th minute, Brandon Golonka (Burgettstown, PA / Burgettstown) scored the first goal off of a very far shot that managed to sneak by the opposing goalie.
After scoring their first goal of the match Beaver kept the pressure on and controlled the posession for the rest of the half.
In the second half, Greater Allgheny started to get a couple chances, but Beaver turned it around and started playing the way they did first half. Late in the second half Ryan Bogolin (Wexford, PA / Pine Richland) assisted Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) for Beaver's second goal to secure the win and controled the rest of the half to win 2-0.
This game marks the first home playoff game in Beaver's history. This is the second consecutive year that Beaver advanced out of the first round of the playoffs. Beaver's next game is against #1 Penn State Brandywine in the PSUAC Final Four which is scheduled to be played Saturday, October 26th at 6:00 p.m.
