Tough Start in PSUAC Play as Beaver Takes on Mont Alto
The Men's Basketball team played Penn State Mont Alto in their first PSUAC game of the season.
Monaca, PA - Begining PSUAC play today, the Lions took on Penn State Mont Alto in the Beaver Fieldhouse. Ater a rought first half of play Beaver was down by 15 scoring only 25 points in the first half. Coming out of half time they scored 42 cutting the ending score down to Mont Alto leading by 14. The final score fell in favor of Penn State Mont Alto 81-67. Beaver took an early lead going up 6 with 3 different players scoring. Starting for Beaver was Fourth-year, Matt Bown (Upland, CA) who made a 3-point shot, folllowed up by First-year, Ny'zir Dix (Eastern Shore, VA) who made a layup, and the Second-year, Jermaine Knaff (Quincy, IL) who mad a free-throw. Beaver lost their only lead of the game a little after the 15 minute mark into the game and would be unable to get it back. First-year Joe Pinto (Kenilworth, NJ) scored the first point for the Lions off 3-point shot almost 4 minutes into the second half. Mont Alto took a 28 point lead during this second half, which Beaver was able to cut in half by the end of the game. First-year, Tyler Reigel (Mifflinburg, PA) scored the final points of the game for Beaver with a 3-point shot, and today was the first time Reigel scored in his career helping Beaver with 5 points this game. Mont Alto held their lead early and Beaver was unable to claw their way back, they hope to use this game as a learning experience to improve on the rest of PSUAC play.
Second-year, Josh McCloud (Houston, TX) played a strong game scoring 16 points, with 2 rebounds, 2 assits and 3 steals. Along with that First-year Ny'Zir Dix (Eastern Shore, VA) scored 13 points, and 4 steals. Third-year, Trevor Franklin (Stafford, VA) followed that with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Both First-Year players Tyler Reigel (Mifflinburg, PA) and Joe Pinto (Kenilworth, NJ) helped put 5 up on the board for the Lions. The team had 21 rebounds, 7 assists, and 13 steals this game.
Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball is now 1-5 overall and 0-1 in PSUAC conference play. Beaver will tip-off at 3pm tomorrow in the Beaver Fieldhouse to take on Penn State York in another PSUAC competition.
