Beaver stumbles against Brandywine

MONACA, Pa.–– The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team's winning streak was snapped by PSUAC rival Penn State Brandywine in a 10-point loss Saturday afternoon (72-62).
Foster finished just shy of a double-double with a game-high 25 points, nine rebounds, three steals and one assist, followed by junior guard Keon Butler (Annapolis/Star Severn School), who put up 17 points, five rebounds, two steals and one assist in the game.
1st half: The teams played evenly matched in the first half, at the game was 28-27 with less than two minutes remaining before halftime. However, Brandywine fouled Foster late, allowing him to knock down both of his free-throws to give Beaver a 1-point edge to end the first (29-28).
2nd half: Brandywine came out aggressive off the break and outscored Beaver 18-2 in the first part of the second to put the Lions in a 46-31 hole. While the Lions fought back and got the game within 10 points at 9:49 thanks to a Foster layup, Brandywine began taking over the game again and took the Lions down 72-62.
Inside the Box: Beaver shot 33.9 percent from the field, connecting on 21-62 shots, 20.8 percent from 3-point range on 5-24 shots and 75 percent from the free-throw line, hitting 15-20 from the charity stripe.
After today's match, the Lions falls to 8-8 overall and 5-5 in the PSUAC standings. The Lions will be on the road for another PSUAC conference showdown, where they will face off against PSUAC rival Penn State Hazleton on Friday, Jan. 24. The game is slated for 8 p.m.
