Lemont Furnance, PA -Penn State Beaver baseball starts to turn things around as they hit the road for an away game against Penn State Fayette.The team played in a doubleheader today that lead to a 1 in 1 split.
The first game started off relatively slow as the team struggled to get a run within the first inning. Yet Fayette came out swinging, gaining a run in the first inning. From there both teams were at a stalemate as they both didn't score a run in the second inning. Going into the third inning Beaver started to take off scoring three runs within this inning. These runs were achieved by third year Aaron Stribiling (Hainesport, NJ), first year Dalton Hickam (Pigeon Forge, TN), and lastly first year Ryan Columbe (Easton, PA). Along with a great offensive game the team played an amazing defensive game as well not allowing fayette to score a run till the sixth inning. While Beaver kept their momentum, scoring another run in the fourth inning. Going into the sixth inning Beaver was able to score another 3 runs while Fayette managed to score one. One of the runs was scored by first year Ryan Van Bramer (Pottstown, PA). Within the Seventh inning Beaver got one last run which was earned by third year Aaron Stribiling (Hainesport, NJ) as he stole home.Fayette ended the game scoring only two more runs, putting the final score at 8 - 4 with Penn State Beaver taking the win.
The second game started off with Beaver taking the lead as they scored one run in the first inning which was earned by second year Nicholas Campbell (Lewes, DE). While Fayette wasn't able to score at all. Neither team was able to score in the second inning as well. Going into the third inning Fayette was able to score two runs while Beaver didn't score any. Beaver wasn't able to score any runs for the second inning until the sixth inning.While Fayette scored another two runs in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning Beaver was able to score one more run earned by first year Brayden Loucks (Krum, TX). The game ended in the seventh inning with both teams not scoring at all. Putting the final score of the game at 2 - 4 Penn State Fayette taking the win.
