Baseball Loses Close Battle With CCAC-Boyce
Monroeville, PA - Beaver lost a tighly contested 9 inning battle with CCAC-Boyce on April 11. Beaver jumped out to an early 3-0 lead that soon became a tied game heading into the 6th inning. CCAC unloaded in the bottom of the 6th by adding four more runs taking a 8-4 lead. Beaver answered with 1 run in the 6th and 8th, making it 8-6 before CCAC batted in the bottom of the 8th. Unfortunately CCAC added three more runs making it 11-6. Beaver would not back down heading into the 9th starting a rally that ultimately fell short as Beaver lost 11-8.
Beaver left 12 runners on base, had three errors, and used 6 different pitchers in the contest. Freshman, Phillip Betz, (Marrieta, CA), went 2/4 at the plate, driving in 2 runs and forcing 1 walk. Freshman, Chris Cann, (Selden, NY), went 3/5 at the plate, scoring twice, stealing a bag and also driving in 1 run. The bats were definetly alive in the contest but leaving too many runners on base with a struggling pitching outlook proved fatal for Beaver as they have struggled all season to finish games. They will look for a strong finish as the season draws close to the finish line.
Beaver has an overall record of 2-24 and a PSUAC record of 2-10. Their next appearance is Friday, April 14 at home against Penn State DuBois at 2pm and 4pm. Come out and support the team or catch the livestream on the Rise and Roar Network!
