Monaca, PA - After two hard games, Beaver was unable to come out victorious in either game of their double header against Penn State New Kensington. Prior to today's game though, the baseball team was able to honor 3 graduating players in the annual senior day celebration. Seniors, Jacob Beck, Stefan Romaniuk, and Dom Petrella all were honored in a pre-game ceremony to recognize their accomplishments and what their time at Beaver has meant for the program.
In game 1, Senior, Jacob Beck started on the mound for Beaver throwing 3.1 innings giving up only 3 hits and striking out 3 as well. In relief this game was Junior, Parker Walden, and Sophomore, Ricardo Elizondo Jr.. The team had 8 hits this game with 2 from Senior, Jacob Beck who went 2 for 3, and another 2 that came from Sophomore, Joseph Barile, who went 2 for 2. Beck also scored 2 runs and had 1 RBI in game 1 while also hitting the teams 2 doubles. A set of Freshman, Jericho Dela Cruz and Aaron Stribling both brought in a run through an RBI as well as Junior, Dom Petrella who brought 1. The final score of game 1 was 14-4, while Beaver took an early lead they were unable to hold on.
For game 2, Junior, Dom Petrella took the mound throwing 4 innings allowing 7 hits and striking out 2. Freshmans, Matt Galzerano and Michael Buonaiuto came into the game in relief for Petrella in the last 2 innings. While the first game allowed Beaver to string together some hits, the second game did not. Beaver had 3 hits in the second game coming from Freshman, Aaron Stribling, who hit a double, Sophomore, Jake Gartley, who also hit a double, and Senior, Jacob Beck. Game 2 ended with a score of 10-0 finishing the series with Penn State New Kensington.
After today's set of games, Beave sits with a record of 6-24, and a PSUAC record of 2-13. Beaver's next game will be on Sunday April 24th at 12pm and 2pm when the travel to take on CCAC - Boyce. With only a few games left in the season, Beaver hopes to finish out strong.
