Butler, PA -- Beaver Takes First Round of PSUAC Tournament

Beaver traveled to Pullman Park on Friday afternoon to take on Penn State Greater Allegheny in the first round of the PSUAC Tournament. Beaver defeated Greater Allegheny 7-3.
The game started with a scoreless first, but Beaver made an impressive run in the second as Justyn Francona hit a home run to left field. In the third, Mitchell Lazaretti ran home as Matt Capo grounded out to second base.
Beaver was ahead 2-0, but Greater Allegheny soon tied the game, making 2 runs in the fourth. Beaver pushed ahead at the top of the sixth, making 3 runs. Francona made the first run as Stefan Romaniuk doubled to left field. Romaniuk later ran home as Dan Vanderslice singled to left field.
At the top of the seventh, Beaver made 2 additional runs. Scott Hughes ran home first, as Francona doubled to right field. Francona later made another run, as Logan Gibbons doubled to left field. This was the final run of the game, giving Beaver a 7-3 win.
The team is now 9-15 overall. They advance to the next round of the PSUAC Tournament, where they will take on Penn State Brandywine in Du Bois on Sunday, May 6th.
