Penn State Beaver improves to 4-9 overall with lopsided win at Butler Community College
Beaver's offense explodes with a 21-1 victory ending after only five innings.
Penn State Beaver led off the top half of the first with three runs. The offense was not a problem for the lions today. It seemed like they had everything clicking today offensively, defensively, and from a pitching standpoint. Scoring in every inning of play, beaver held Butler community college to just one run over five innings. This game was supposed to be a nine inning game, but after a 20 run lead after five innings, Butler seemed to have enough.
Beaver scored a pair of runs in the second inning, followed by a five run third, a nine run fourth, and finally two more runs in the fifth to make it 21-1. Beaver had a total of 18 hits, while Vinnie Garuccio and the lions defense held Butler Community College to just one hit through five innings.
Leading the lions in batting was Blaise McCarty who went 4-5 with two home runs, five rbi's and scoring three runs. Tyler Thellman also had four hits with three rbi's and scored twice. Shawn Shaner and Stephen Antolic also homered in the blowout at BCIII. Throwing an excellent game from the mound was Vinnie Garuccio givinp up only one hit and one earned run striking out four in a winning effort. Beaver returns to action at home on monday against St. Joseph's (VT) at 11:00 a.m.
