Beaver takes first PSUAC loss of the season
Beaver falls to Schuylkill, 9-5.
Monaca, PA – On Saturday afternoon, the Penn State Beaver Baseball team returned home after spending last weekend on the road where they picked up four conference wins.
Facing Penn State Schuylkill, who is new to the PSUAC, Beaver got off to a slow start giving up four runs in the top of the first inning. It wasn't until the bottom of the fourth inning that Beaver was able to get some runs on the board. With two outs, the Lions rallied with hits from Nick Casasanta (Moon Twp, PA/Moon) , Tyler Thellman (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) and Gavin High (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley) who singled to earn two RBI's. Going in to the fifth inning, still trailing by two runs, Beaver gave up three more runs and then two more in the seventh inning, giving Schuylkill a 9-2 lead. Beaver again rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring three runs, but their best efforts weren't enough as they fell by a final score of 9-5, taking their first conference loss of the season.
Leading Beaver offensively were Matt Rose (Beaver, PA/Beaver), Casasanta, and Thellman who all went 2 for 4 as well as High who added 3 RBI's.
