Beaver gets back on track
Beaver defeats Sauk Valley 11-4

Vero Beach, FL - After suffering their first defeat of the season earlier in the day, Beaver bounced back and defeated Sauk Valley College by a score of 11-4. The game's winning pitcher was Zack Del Turco (Monaca, Monaca High School). Del Turco threw a complete game, giving up three earned runs on eight hits while striking out six.
Offensively, Beaver was led by Alex Filippi (Aliquippa, Center High School), Mike Karas (Imperial, West Allegheny High School) and Jimmy Musgrave (Economy, Ambridge High School) who all had two hits apiece. Karas also drove in two runs for Beaver. Beaver scored two in the first, when Filippi scored on an error and Tom Lewis (Aliquippa, Hopewell High School) scored on a Musgrave RBI single. In the second, Billy Harrington (Monaca, Central Valley High School) had his first career hit when he singled and later scored on a Lewis sacrifice fly. Also in the second inning, Filippi scored following an error. Beaver added one in the third inning when Musgrave tripled and then scored on a Tyler Schuster (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls High School) single. Beaver added three more in the fifth when Markus Allen (New Castle, Union High School) scored on a Karas single, Andrew DiPietrantonio (Beaver, Beaver High School) scored on a fielder's choice, and Karas scored following a Filippi double. The offense added three more in the sixth when Grant Scott (Sewickley PA, Ann Arbor Pioneer High School) singled and later scored on an Allen RBI single. Also in the sixth, Allen scored on a Karas single and DiPietrantonio scored on an error. Beaver had 10 hits in the contest and the victory improved their record to 2-1.
