Beaver wins first game of season
Beaver defeats Sauk Valley 14-5 for first win of season

Vero Beach, FL - On a sunny day in Vero Beach Florida, the boys of Beaver got their season off to a good start, defeating Sauk Valley College 14-5. Tyler Schuster (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls High School) got the win for Beaver going five strong innings surrendering four runs on 5 hits and striking out 5. Offensively Beaver got things going in the first inning with a two-out RBI single from Tom Lewis (Aliquippa, Hopewell High School). After Sauk Valley answered with one run in their half of the first inning, Beaver scored 7 in the second inning to take the lead for good. The second inning highlight was the Lewis 3-run homer that put Beaver up 6-1 at that point. Freshman Steve Galmarini (New Castle, Union High School) collected his first hit and first RBI of his career with a single in the second inning. Beaver added four more runs in the 7th inning to put away the game for good.
On the day, Alex Filippi (Aliquippa, Center High School), Garrett Covalt (Aliquippa, Hopewell High School), Markus Allen (New Castle, Union High School) and Tom Lewis each had three hits. Covalt also added two RBI's , Allen drove in three runs and Lewis had five runs batted in for Beaver. Beaver will play tomorrow in Vero Beach with game times starting at 12 and 4.
