State College, PA - Despite defeating the Penn College Wildcats (Williamsport, PA) just days earlier at home with a 5-2 win, the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team couldn't find themselves offensively and bowed out to the Wildcats. Beaver fought early, but struggled in the late innings. Their season ended with a 13-0 loss at the hands of Penn College at the PSUAC Championship.
For the second consecutive day, Beaver was sharp defensively as they kept Penn College scoreless through five innings. Starter Ronnie Wilkins (South Side Beaver High School/Hookstown, PA) kept the Wildcats hitters at bay through the early innings. Unfortunately, Beaver couldn't get any offense going and managed only three hits on the day.
In the sixth inning, the Penn College bats awoke to the tune of six runs, and the Wildcats scored seven runs in the seventh inning to seal the victory, 13-0.
The loss marks the end of the collegiate career of Beaver senior Billy Stoughton (Slippery Rock High School/Slippery Rock, PA).
Beaver ended the season with an overall record of 11-18-1 and a 11-8-1 PSUAC record. Beaver finished third in the PSUAC regular season and fourth in the 2011 PSUAC Baseball Championship Tournament.
