Monaca, PA - On Sunday, freshman pitcher Tyler Schuster (Beaver Falls High School/Beaver Falls, PA) threw a complete game no-hitter to propel Beaver to a doubleheader sweep of PSUAC foe, Penn State York.
In the first game, Beaver pounded York pitching by scoring a whopping 24 runs in the first three innings of the game. Beaver smacked 20 hits in the process, while Alex Filippi (Center High School/Monaca, PA), Tom Lewis (Hopewell High School/Aliquippa, PA), Cory Wagner (Center High School/Monaca, PA), Adam Falkowski (Blackhawk High School/Beaver Falls, PA), Jim Musgrave (Ambridge High School/Ambridge, PA) and Marcus Allen (Union High School/New Castle, PA) each had two hits for Beaver.
On the mound, Schuster was spectacular, throwing five innings of no-hit ball, striking out four York batters, and walking just three.
In the second game, York struck first as they got to starter Zach Del Turco (Monaca High School/Monaca, PA) for three runs in the top of the third inning. However, the Beaver bats responded in the fourth as Beaver scored five runs, including a 2-run homer run by Allen to give Beaver a lead they would not relinquish.
In the win, Del Turco earned the complete game victory. He allowed three runs on just four hits and walked only five batters. At the plate, Lewis once again had multiple hits including a double. Falkowski also doubled.
With the win, Beaver improves to 3-1 in PSUAC play and 3-10 overall. The men will head to Allegheny College (Meadville, PA) in a doubleheader at 1 p.m, Wednesday, March 30.
