Warriors Defeat Nittany Lions in Florida
Cocoa Beach, FL - In their second game of the day on Tuesday, March 9, the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team fell to the Warriors of Rochester College (Rochester Hills, MI), 8-7, in nine innings during spring break in Florida.
Beaver's offense found its groove when they exploded for seven runs in the first seven innings. Senior Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School, Ellwood City, PA) went 3-4 with 2 RBIs. Freshman Tom Lewis (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) added 2 RBI's.
With the game tied at 7-7, freshman Brandon Alexander (South Side High School, Hookstown, PA) came in relief in the eighth inning and retired the side in order, giving Beaver momentum. Unfortunately, Beaver's offense couldn't muster any runs in the extra frames. The Warriors capitalized on a double steal and held Beaver off to earn the win.
Beaver is 1-1 and will resume play at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, March 11 when they face Rochester College again.
