Beaver is 14-4 in PSUAC, Heads to Conference Playoffs

Scranton, PA - On Saturday, April 24, the Penn State Beaver baseball team ended its regular season with two wins over Penn State Worthington Scranton, 9-2 and 14-0. Beaver is 14-4 in the PSUAC and 18-11 overall as they enter the PSUAC playoffs. Date and time of the first round will be announced.
In the first game, Beaver held a slim 3-1 lead before scoring 6 runs in the top of the fifth inning. Worthington Scranton scored another run, but Beaver took the win.
Three Beaver seniors each had 3 hits: Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School, Fair Oaks, PA), Joe Scherer (Quaker Valley High School, Sewickley, PA), and Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School, Fombell, PA). Freshman Markus Allen (Union High School, New Castle, PA) added 2 hits and 3 RBIs.
Frederick was the winning pitcher. In seven innings, he had 14 strikeouts, 1 walk, and gave up 2 hits.
In game two, Beaver shut out Worthington Scranton. Sophomore Ronnie Wilkins (South Side High School, Hookstown, PA) was the game's winning pitcher; he pitched 6 innings, had 3 strikeouts, and no earned runs.
At bat, freshman Alex Filippi (Center High School, Aliquippa, PA) led Beaver with 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. Raraigh and Scherer, along with freshman Tom Lewis (Hopewell High School, Hopewell Township, PA) and Ryan Hudacsek (Ambridge High School, Ambridge, PA) each had 2 hits for Beaver.
