Lions Chase Spot in PSUAC Tournament

Abington, PA- The Penn State Beaver baseball team traveled to Abington on Saturday, looking to get a leg up on Abington in the race for the final spot in the PSUAC tournament.
In game one, Beaver scored three times. Abington answered with one of its own to put it 3-1 after one. Beaver added two more in the third to take a 5-1 lead. Abington answered back with three in the third to cut the lead to 5-4, which would end up being the final score. Junior Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley/Fair Oaks, PA) pitched seven innings, giving up four hits, two walks, and four earned runs on his way to pushing his season record to 4-1. Beaver was led offensively by Junior Joe Scherer (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, PA) with three hits and three RBI's while Sophomore Huston Lorenzo (Miami, FL) had two hits.
In game two, Beaver would get on the board early and often, scoring three in the first, two in the third, and 11 in the fourth. Abington would rally to score seven in the fourth (16-7), but that would be it. Beaver would add two in the seventh to take the game 18-7. Beaver ended with 14 hits, led by Junior Ryan Raraigh (Riverside/Fombell, PA) with three hits, runs, and RBI's for the game. Fredericks had two hits and scored two runs. Junior Justin Parasida (Ambridge/Ambridge, PA) led with five RBI's and Senior Jeff Trojan(Rochester/Rochester, PA) ended with four RBI's, all coming off a grand Slam.
In the win, Beaver sits at 18-8 and 24-16 overall. The final game of the season is scheduled for Sunday in Schuylkill Haven, PA.
