Lions Defeat CCAC South; Game Two is Rained Out
On Sunday, April 13 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team traveled to Clairton to take on Community College of Allegheny South in a non-conference match-up. Beaver won the first game, 6-5, but the second game was rained out.
In game one, Beaver struck first, scoring one in the top of the first. CCAC answered with a four-spot of their own in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead. Beaver scored four in the top of the fourth, only to see CCAC score one in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 5-5. Beaver scored one in the sixth and eight in the top of the seventh before the rain came, closing the game with a win for Beaver.
Freshman Alex Fox (Ellwood City High School) pitched six innings, gave up eight hits, and walked and struck out eight. Offensively, sophomore Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School) led the way with four hits and two runs. Sophomore Zac Fetchin (Hopewell High School) had three hits and scored one run while junior Brian Ringel (Sto Rox High School) had two hits and scored two runs. Fox added two hits as well.
The Lions are 14-6 overall and 13-3 in the PSUAC. They return to action on Thursday, April 17 when they host Waynesburg University in a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
