Nittany Lions Defeat Apprentice College
On Saturday, April 5 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team won an important game against USCAA rival Apprentice College, 5-3.
Apprentice built a 3-1 lead, scoring twice in the first and once in the third. Beaver's lone run came in the first, but in the Lions' final time at bat in the seventh, they scored twice to push extra innings. In the extra frame, Beaver scored twice to win the game.
In the win, sophomore Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School) pitched eight innings, gave up nine hits, walked three, and struck out six. Offensively, freshman Huston Lorenzo (Miami, Fl) led with three hits and scored two runs. Frederick also added two hits and a run. Sophomores Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School) and Joe Scherer (Quaker Valley High School) each had two hits and drove in two runs.
The Lions will take on Rochester College today at 4 p.m.
