Bio

Marcess Williams, a New Brighton native, led New Brighton High School to the WPIAL AA championship game in 1997. He was selected as a WPIAL Section 2 AA All-Conference basketball player for three years and also received an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection in football in 1998.

After high school, Williams went on to star at La Roche College (Pittsburgh, PA) as a four-year starter and a three-year All-Conference selection for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. He finished his career at La Roche as the third all-time leading scorer with 1,364 points and second all-time leading rebounder with 515 rebounds. In 2001-02, Williams was named to the NCAA Division III Honorable Mention Pre-Season All-American Team. After graduating from La Roche, Williams began his coaching career there as an assistant to the late Scott Lang for two seasons. Following his 2003-2004 championship season at La Roche, Williams accepted the head coaching position at Penn State Beaver.

While at Beaver, Williams coached 14 USCAA All-Americans, 23 PSUAC All-Academics, and 22 PSUAC All-Conference players. He accumulated a record of 136-92.

From 2008 to 2014, the Penn State Beaver men's basketball teams were elite in the PSUAC. These teams won the PSUAC regular season five times, the PSUAC championship 3 times in a row from 2008-2010, was PSUAC runner's up 2012-13, qualified for the USCAA tournament every year, finished 3rd at the USCAA tournament in 2011 and 2013; and finished USCAA runner's up in 2013-14.

In addition to coaching, Williams worked as an admissions counselor in the admissions office on campus. Williams earned his Bachelor's degree from La Roche in 2002 and a Master's degree from California University of Pennsylvania in 2009 in Sports Management. He now resides in Beaver Falls, PA.
