Bio

Brett Shimek is a 1992 graduate of Waynesburg Central.

In his baseball playing days at Beaver, he was well decorated. In 1992, he led his team to a Commonwealth College Athletic Association Championship (CCAC). In 1993, they again won the CCAC, but added an NJCAA Region XX Championship and a trip to the NJCAA Junior College World Series, where they finished fifth.

Individually, Brett was a two-time All-Conference award winner and was named twice to the NJCAA All-Region XX team, as well as NJCAA All-American. After Beaver, Shimek went on to finish his career at the California University of Pennsylvania (Cal U) where he was named to the PSAC All-Conference Team twice. He graduated from Cal U with a Bachelor's of Arts in Parks and Recreation Management.

Currently, Shimek is the head coach of the Waynesburg University Women's Softball team. Before taking this position, he was an assistant coach at Waynesburg Highschool from 2015-2018. He helped the Lady Raiders to four straight WPIAL playoff appearances.

Since 2013, Brett has assisted the PA Lady Knights travel softball team. In his time with the program, they won the National Softball Association Eastern National World Series Championship in 2015, after finishing as runner up in 2014. The program's overall record since 2013 is 252 - 35.

Brett is married to Taraha Shimek and has one daughter, Bailee, who is studying nursing at Waynesburg University.
